Just bought a IH picker

I saved it from the iron man.  Can't believe that he would let the iron man have his dads old picker. But would not sell it to me for scrap price.

This is a nice picker that's been kept in the barn. I'm going to need some help on what I bought because he didn't know and I couldn't find anything on it, I'm thinking 2M or 2ME.  It's has the white elevator is about all I can tell you and they used it on a 300.

I'm going to mount it on a 450 Diesel which I think will look good.  The paint will macth up good any way.

Can I leave the TA leaver on the tractor? or will it hit the picker?

I bet you have a 2MH, as the elevators on the 2M and 2ME were red, unless it was a late one, which I have never seen before. I dont know about the TA lever, never been around too many of those older pickers. Did that 300 have a FH, and if it did, does your 450? Might have some problems, with not having the right mounts, but they made ALOT of 2MH pickers, you can find parts for them pretty easily.

2MH that's good to know, do you know what years they were built?  My 450 has standard drawbar and I think that's what was on the 300.  He has the book to the picker so that will be helpful and it might have the date in it when the picker bought.

I need to do a little work to the 450 and hope for a little cooler weather when I go get it out of the barn.

Couldnt tell you exactly when, after '52, but I dont know til when, I think the 234 came out in '65. As for the manual, I have one, so if you have a question, I should be able to answer it. It seems like it takes more time to prep the tractor then it does to actually mount it, especially with my 234.

I went back and looked at my picker to see what it's going to take to get it home and it is a 2 MH. The story on the picker is that they used it two years and that's was it.  It going to need a lot of oil on the chains and a good washing to find the paint.

Kinda thinking about making a little trailer to get it home on.  A book I have shows the picker weighs 3800 lbs with mounts, so minus the mounts and elevator the picker might weigh 2500?   I have seen picture of a little two wheel cart they used to move picker around and deliever them to the farmer.  I would like to have a picture of cart to build one by. Not going to be easy but should be fun.

I found were 2 MH was made from 1957 to 1964 and built 40421, that's a lot of pickers.

Do the 2 MH have a serial no. tag? If so where is it?

Thanks Ron

Should weigh about what you think. I think Tim made a carrier, but I'm not sure. May be him or Bill (Binderpower856) Congrats on the new purchase!
