Here's a source for NI picker parts

This is the shop I referred to in the other post that takes worn New Idea picker parts like snapping and husking rollers and rebuilds them.  They also have other NI picker parts available.
Country Machinery

Here is what I am wondering about. I have a New Idea Uni System model 701. Has the 38 inch wide picker head and I would like to run a picker head with a 30" spacing. Also has the 292 GM engine and I would like to switch over to a diesel engine. Are things foolish or can it be done? The 12 row husking bed and the sheller attachment are in very good shape. Thanks for your input.

It would probably be a better idea to find something newer, such as a 708 that would have a Perkins in it, along with maybe a 30" head. Your husking bed and sheller should still work.

Hi I am new to this forum and hope someone can help.  We live in Canada and are growing corn and have bought our NI corn picker from Minnesota.  Works great but needs new husking rollers or something as last fall when we were picking there was alot of husks left on the cobs.  Wondering if anyone knows for sure if that is our problem - we have to come to the States to get parts and we live in Manitoba so don't want to go too far.  Does anyone know of good used parts or used replacement pieces in Minnesota, North Dakota, Wisconsin, Iowa or South Dakota?  So I guess I have two questions - would that be what is wrong and are there such things as replacement rollers or parts for the rollers that don't cost a fortune.  Thanks for any help.  Really enjoyed reading some of the forums answers and questions.  Great idea - we find we have so many questions and no body up here to ask.  Thanks

Thanks for posting the info on the NI parts.  I am a new member to this forum and have really enjoyed reading all of the posts, topics and info about corn picker enthusiasts.  My equipment consists of a NI 323 Picker, JD 43 Sheller, JD 10A Hammer Mill, JD 95 Corn Special Combine and JD 2 Cyl Tractors.

No, they don't.  Very difficult people to deal with, as well. Want top dollar for used parts and you have to pull it from their yard and pay cash.

Then why bother with an outfit like that? It's not like there is a shortage of used NI picker parts!

Well, they had been the only place within driving distance for used combine and picker parts for a few years, but they have competition now.

The guys at Country Machinery are great, and that's where I go first if I need anything.

If you guys from Ny Pa Nj Md need combine and picker parts get a hold of Fry's machinery in Pennsdale Pa. They should have a web site i believe. They ship parts UPS or Jr Fry can meet u at auctions sites like Mcgrews in Seven Valleys or Wogmuths in Leoa. Much better people to deal with then the guys at Country Machinery.

When I was down near Country Machinery earlier this year I stopped for a couple parts. I was amazed at what they had available. Highly recommended.

I told my wife that this was one of few places to get parts. She said it looked like where corn pickers go to die. Not sure if she meant the machines or old guys. Nice neat place even with a lot of rusty metal around.
