These pictures are from last fall when I had the 234 on my 560. Then I bought a 2MH from a retired farmer and decided to put that on the 560 because they are the same vintage. This summer I found a 706 to use with the 234. I found the mounts needed but I'm still looking for a radiator air scoop and set of engine side screens. My parts manual shows that 706, 756, and 656 all use the same screens. If anyone has an extra set and is willing to sell them please let me know. I do have an extra set for a 460 or 560 if someone would like to trade.
Saw those pictures up on YT, very sharp. Seen some corn, nice and shiny. I need to run some corn thru mine, shine her up. Mounted on my M right now, but I got a guy that wants the M, so I would like to find a 706 gasser. I have the radiator air scoop, but dont really wanna part with it, especially if I get a 706.
Man that picker is shiny, looks good. Might have to let you use my picker and get it nice and shiny or just come and help you pick corn. Thanks for the pictures.
After I get done using my picker this fall, I thought about spraying some clear coat on the snouts where it was shined up to keep it shiny. Think it would work?
Before you go to the field, remove excess rust with a wire wheel on a power grinder. This will speed up the process. I would think that clear coat would keep rust from reforming.
The wire wheel is a good idea, especially on the snouts. I figure I can pick right along side dad, except I got 30" rows, so its one row at a time. I got an old planter that I need to set up for 38" rows on the headlands and down the center so he doesnt knock it down ( pull type NI)
What is the narrowest you or someone you know of ,planting corn to be harvested with a mounted picker. ? I mean row width. I know some guys would try to make the end rows a little closer together tow squeeze in more rows?

I have a 8 row 30 inch planter and a 6 row corn head on my combine. Now here is what I did, I drove wide when planting so I have 38 to 40 inches between my 8 rows. Now when I pick with the combine I will take the middle 6 out of the 8, that will leave me with the 38 to 40(depending on my driveing) inch rows to pick with the picker. Laid awake thinking of this one, should work good I'll let you know.
The clearcoat works great to keep rust from coming back. Makes the picker look like it just came from the field, no matter what time of year. I've also applied a thin coat of oil, but the clearcoat works best.
