My buddy found me a Sheller don't know what no. it is but this sheller has never been used, in the barn, so what is it worth? My thought was $500 for the sheller to high or to cheap? This guy also has the 2MH picker that the sheller was bought with, used very little and in the barn.
My buddy also found me a 234 picker that he said looks like new. What is a 234 like this worth?
Depends on how bad you want the sheller. I'm not up on ih pickers but if it is what you want and is close enough then figuring the time and stuff involed in getting it home.Well close and 500 might be real cheap in long run.
Agreed, $500 is a good price. And for a good 234, I bought mine and the M for $1800, my picker has paint still on the sprockets and chains. If this stuff does follow you home, post some pictures!
A little off-topic but still related to shellers - how can you tell the difference between a sheller attachment and a grinder attachment for a 234 Picker? Looking at the literature for them it appears that, from a distance, they look similar.

Update on the sheller, looked at what I could see of it and the decal was about it, so deep under stuff the decal was all I could and it's a no. 10. So now I thinking it's worth about fifty buck, because it's down in the dirt and two day to get to it. His 2-MH picker has been a cow rub for a while. He had three and only seen two and the second one didn't look to bad from what I could see of it.
The 234 down the road still had paint, but need the skirts straighten and lot of the other metal straighten. Guess they had a hard time missing things and not to careful when they drove in and out of it. s/n 8177

The grinder and sheller attachments are on the same frame, so here is what you have to look for: The wagon auger will have a bigger hopper on the grinder, and drive on the opposite side. The grinders will also have two gearboxes mounted on the bottom frame, not one. From a distance, you cannot tell them apart. Hope I helped a little bit.
If it is operationable, 500 would be a great ballpark. How many new 2-MH shellers are still around? Yeah, so having it is a huge step. Pictures please? I hope it isn't all bashed up... See what he wants for it, but if he goes as high as 500 he probably knows what he has. I would LOVE to find one for my 2M-HD prototype, I think that would be sweet. Good find, good luck with it!!!!!
I picked up a 2mh mounted on an M summer before last- This unit also has the sheller attachment on it. Was wondering if anyone else has one assembled and is it possible to use the factory ladder (mine is missing) when the sheller is mounted. It is a real bear to climb the snouts to get on- and need to shut down tractor when getting off for any field adjustment. Have logged over 120 miles on the unit since purchase including trip home and to different fairs and shows. Plan to figure a way to put on trailer this summer or maybe a front tires dolly to pull behind pickup. I realize I should pull tractor speed 21MPH but wonder if any one thinks the tractor needs to be running as I'm pulling- I don't figure it's necessary but have different opinions. Did pick a mizerable field of 90 day corn that was grassy and weedy -thicker than the corn - too bad for a first time chance to pick with this unit.

Very nice, welcome to the board!!! You are at the right place. I am almost for sure the ladder can go on around the sheller, memory tells me there is a ladder but I can't remember if it was special as part of the kit with the sheller or not. When you picked corn did you use the sheller or bypass it?
As to moving it around, the elevator is easy enough to lay down if you had a long enough trailer you could just lower it to the floor to get under height issues I do have a set of elevator rod extensions, I don't know if they are enough to lower it, but I guess that depends on your trailer height. For an M the tractor doesn't have to be running because it doesn't have any oil to pump, but at all possible I would find a trailer, especially since your tractor will get better fuel milage by itself than your truck pulling it, but I definately can imagine the nice features of sitting in a truck. I drive mine right now since I am trailer poor, I'd be a lot happier if I had your's to drive. But to answer your question, no you don't need it running, and as long as you travel tractor speed it will do OK.

Because of the poor field conditions (weeds and grass) decided to pick ear corn for squirrel food (field belongs to our local park district- our tractor club farms it and we are not allowed to use newer equipment, field spray, or chemical fertilizer) still gives us some fun for plow days and the rest! I have a low profile trailer and may try to haul the unit next summer-but was looking for an alternative, although I get a kick at the look you get driving it down the highway..
A small handful of volunteers work this plot so far, and the buddy with the John Deere and cultivators only got one chance before the corn grew past height of passing over. In past years our county jail prisoners were lined up to hoe and pull the weeds -but that didn't happen for some reason this season- hope we can do a better job next season!:
