New Idea 317 Grinder - FOUND!

I've been looking for a New Idea 317 grinder attachment for my New Idea mounted picker since last fall. About a month ago I got a lead on one only 30 miles away from me. Today I finally had a chance to go look at it - not bad! Stored in a shed (sort of - the roof was getting real bad), looks complete with extra screens and it even has the hitch and wheels for it! Still needs a bit of work to get it into running condition. He really wanted to get rid of the whole outfit (he had a 305 gathering unit, 307 8-roll bed and a 315 sheller also) so I purchased the whole works! I'll try to get some pictures when I get it home (after it dries up around here). So if anyone wants a mounted picker, husking bed and sheller I now have an extra one.....

I'm located in SW Minnesota.  I'm also keeping an eye out for IH 234 pickers, JD 237 pickers and Oliver 74 pickers (and attachments for any of these). I figure if it's vintage equipment, someone is looking for it (or will be in the future) and I don't want to see all of this stuff disappear to the scrap iron yards!

I was wondering if you have ever run across any JD227 pickers?  I already have a 237 but am looking for a late model 227 with universal mounts or 3010 mounts and preferably spiral snapping rolls.  I may also be interested in a New Idea picker.  I'm located in your backyard [SE South Dakota] so location shouldn't be a problem.  Thanks,  TW

I haven't seen any JD 227's for a long time.  I'll keep an eye out for one, now that I know there is interest in them also.  Wonder how many of the late-model ones with spiral rolls are out there? But if you decide to add a New Idea to your collection, I'll probably have a few to choose from by the time summer rolls around! Now if I can just locate a New Idea 308 Snapper Hopper.......

I seen your ad on the For Sale page - you need a 318 grinder if you want it to fit on a 325 pull-type picker. The 317 grinder is the one for the mounted picker. I'll see if I can locate one - there used to be a few around my part of the country.
