NI 329 sheller ?

hi all, please bear with me as I continue asking newbie questions.
I'm still 'kicking tires'. There are several 2 row wides available, 12 roll husker units. Can I add a 329 sheller without too much pain? Did the 329 work well? What wears out on a 329 sheller? Are parts available or rebuildable?
I have a corn stove and a flock of sheep, both like corn, thinking maybe a sheller is the way to go.
thanks,

I have never used a 329 Supersheller (that's what they were called) but it should be a good sheller. It has the the same cage & rotor as the sheller they made for the Uni-System. It was made for the capacity of the 3-row Superpicker so it should have plenty of capacity for a 2-row unit. Make sure you get the correct "hood" for your picker (this is where the gathering unit hooks up to the sheller). This sheller was made to fit on the 2-row narrow, 2-row wide and both 3-row machines and all of them had a different hood for them. There are also a few other mounting parts that are different between the pickers - get yourself the operator's manual/ parts book for the sheller and make sure all the parts are there before you buy it.  There shouldn't be a whole lot of parts to break or wear out on it - most of the ones I have seen became obsolete before they were worn out. The biggest problem will probably be the steel pan under the sheller where the corn is augered to the inclined auger to the wagon. If it has sat outside for very long or the last person who used it didn't clean it out when they were done, this pan is probably rusted out. If you can get it out mostly intact, any good sheet metal shop should be able to use it as a pattern and bend you a new one.

thanks, that helps.
I talked to a fellow this morning who has a 2RN for sale. He says it is set for 32" rows. I thought the width was fixed...or is there some means of limited adjustment? How critical is the match between planter width and gathering unit width?

According to the brochures I have for these pickers, the 2RN is set on 32" centers and will pick rows spaced from 28" to 36". The 2RW model is set on 39" centers and will pick rows spaced from 36" to 44". Hope this helps you out.
