Found some bearings that needed to be put in on the gear boxes and the belts needed to be replaced also. I put on some new no. 60 chain on the husking unit and adjust all the chains and elevator chains.
gear box
Old belts and a new belt
Had some time and have been wanting to give the picker a test run so I got the wagon out of the barn and aired up the tires and off to the field. I havn't run a picker for 40 years and didn't run one then but a round or two.
Man it was hard to head to the house, I think I'm going to like picking corn. This picker I think going to be allright.

I know how you feel - I had the same feeling when I went out with my New Idea 319 last year after getting it all fixed up the winter before! I don't know if I'm going to get it out this year or not - it's wet here right now and we haven't even got the soybeans done yet. The corn is barely at black layer now and they are talking about a hard freeze at the end of this week. I think the corn will make it but it's going to be wet! I may just get my dad's pull-type New Idea out this year to pick my 2 cribs full - that will take less time than getting the mounted picker on the tractor.
Did anyone noticed the corn stalk in the picture? This picker has knife rolls on it, so you shouldn't see any stalk sticking up where it picks. Anyone else have the knife rolls on there picker?
How wet do you guy pick your ear corn? this corn is still running over 23%, don't want to sell some corn to some one and have go bad on them.

Yes the 234 did have knife rolls and I don`t know if they offered spiral rolls or not!! My Oliver 83H has knife rolls in it ! Also a friend of mine has a Allis picker 190 with knife rolls with it !
Picking 23 % corn is fine if it is late in the year that it will not heat up., but if it is early and still not cold it could heat up . Or needs to have a place where air can get thru it!

Yes you could get spiral (deep pocket IH calling them) and a notched stripper (stalk rolls-stripper)
Thanks for helping me out on what moisture I can start picking at, I need a crib for next year.
