I'm looking for a picker and would like to know what the volume is per bushel of picked corn vs combined corn. I've built a corn crib and am trying to figure what it 'll hold in picked corn, that will inform me as to what i ought to plant to fill it, and what sorta picker(size) i'll need. Am leaning towards a NI323.
How big is the crib? First thing is to figure out how much corn you want or need and as to what you'll be using it for. Feed or market grain. Then by the amount of acres you will need to plant to get the estimated yield you want. Then you can figure how much time you willl have for harvesting. If truth be told most could get by with a one row. Especially for the amounts most guys on here will raise. But the time factor is critical plus sometime the two rows go much cheaper than one rows.. The newer numbers like the 323 are designed to take in the corn with less stalk breakage and less shelling. i paid for a two row new idea in under 3 years from less shelled corn field loss.
Its 7'wide 16' long 14' tall, connected to a tobacco barn. I'll post pictures and you can tell me what yawl think. 2"X1" oak boards with 1" gap between.
