IH 234 Picker brochure

Here is the first of what I hope to make a weekly event here on the Corn Picker Forum due to some requests by other users of this forum. I'll scan page-by-page pictures of one corn picker brochure out of my literature collection each week and post it here for everyone to see and enjoy. If you have any specific requests, let me know. And it doesn't have to be corn pickers only - if you have a question about a wagon or an elevator or whatever, just ask - I'll see what I can do!

Sorry I forgot to include the print number on the back - it's AD-3585-W1  5-15. The "W" suffix means that it was printed in 1970. I have a list of these IH date codes - drop me an e-mail if you would like one!

What a great idea (And much appreciated)! Now I'll understand what some of these other pickers and their  attachments look like. This should get you the Member of The Year Award!

Wow, I love looking at that.  What really gets me is how shiny and new and cutting edge technology something like that was for its time.  Looking forward to more sales brochures.  Thanks you very much for posting.

You made my day Tom or should I say week.  That is nice to get to see a 234 in it's new paint and get to read all about them.  Is there a printing date on the brochure?  I know that is a picture of the early 234's from the decals.  The first 234's had McCormick above the International on the side.

Thanks for posting the brochure for us.  Ron

That is Great stuff Tom , And thank Ron And you for coming up with that idea on the printed materials of the pickers and all their attachments!
At the last of the picking era the 234 had the stripper plates and a knife rolls , yea Allis had theirs in the 170-190 mounted pickers also Oliver had stripper plates and knife rolls in the 83 pull type and in the 74 mounted pickers in the last ones with the white snouts!
The 234 was by far the best and most popular and successful at what they done!

The brochure you have with the "S"  suffix is actually older that the one I posted - 1966.

I took a picture of the brochure I got with one of my pickers.  It the back page and is dated March 1965.  This might work.

Correct, my picker was an early one, serial number was #2610, and it had the McCormick about the International.

You think the grinder units are rare, imagine trying to find the sweet corn one. Geesh...

I know I have put these decals on here before but for the new guys, here the differents in the decals on the side of a 234 picker.

The early picker had the McCormick above the International

and the later picker just had International.

So how rare is the snapper hopper? I didn't know there was one available for the 234 until now!

Tom ,I believe the wagon was a Stanhoist with a Sanhoist running gear like a 6-8 ton ! The pictures where taken down at the Half Century Show . I only took on of my own wagons and only pulled it twice ! You just grabbed one and went to picking !
