Jim IA told me about this forum so I had to come over and check it out and look at his pictures. Looks like a lot of interesting information and pictures here to explore so I thought I would register and introduce myself. I live in Northeast Iowa about 40 miles away from Jim. I have mostly Allis tractors and equipment. While I do not own a corn picker I have always been interested in them. I do have a 40 AllCrop Combine that I used to combine beans with this fall. I remember my dad and step grandfather picking corn when I was a kid. We had a JD 237 mounted on an Allis D-17.
Yeh ive always wondered why lots of allis guys put JD pickers on their tractors. Was there something about the JD s that they like especially? less shelling or didnt clog as much/?Or less exspensive picker? Around here there was lots of new idea one jd that i knew of and at least one allis picker that i know of.i remember seeing an wd45 with a JD advertised in t for sale paper years ago.Was a lot of new idea pulltypes, wood bros and oliver pull types too.

I never heard of a wood picker until last night. We went to a freinds house for dinner and he said, his dad had a wood picker on a WD 45. Now anyone have any pictures?
No I do not have any pictures of the JD picker on the D17. I don't think my mom does either. I wish we did. I don't know why we had the JD picker, if they got a good deal on it or what. We did have a good JD dealer in the area and they were sold with universal mounts. I still have the owners manual for it.
