new to this great forum, new to corn picking, can the chains on a N.I. 309 be adjusted? remove one link then retighten, I'm  all out of adjustment and still a little loose thanks in advance for any help, Jimmy in SC

I ave an old No. 7 and I removed one link from each side to tighten it up a bit and it seems to work OK.

will any link work or is ther a
'king" link?
trick to "open" chain?

i took te same link from each side out to keep it as even as possible. I took the bolt out of the Idler sprocker , dropped the sprocket out and removed the chain. seemed to come apart easily and took about 20 minutes total.
