I have started to get a few allis chalmers b's and c's now I would like to find a one row mounted picker for the c.I can not find any real proof that they even exist but think it would be cool to own one if they did.Several allis forms claim both sides of yes they did build them and no they didnt just as a prototype. Does anyone here know if they exist or not? Thanks
Allis chalmers did build a prototype for the B in June 1940. They also built a prototype for the C sometime in the 40's. Neither were continued beyond the prototypes (both prototypes were destroyed). AC decided to go with the pull type model 35 picker (built 1951-1961) and pull type model 36 snapper (built 1956-1961) instead. So your looking at a pull type if you want to pick with a B or C.

Yep, that was the prototype (Scrapped when testing was completed), never went to production.

A friend of mine had the opportunity to talk to a retired engineer from the LaPorte Indiana plant before he passed away. One of his jobs was the corn pickers, he said that they could never get the mounted B picker to make it from one side of the field to the other without breaking down. Finally after enough breakdowns they gave up and eventually came out with the pull type that rfdeere mentioned. The pull type machine was basically build from parts of pickers and other Laporte built machines.
