Half Century of Progress show

I never knew how having some much fun with great friends, great food, great weather and pickin corn could be so tiring!

I had a blast, except for that tree limb that went trough the picker and broke a chain.

OUCH! no

Hope someone took some pickin pictures, i would love to see them or any videos from the show.

Great times were had by all.  Good to finally put some faces with names.  My wife took some pictures (mostly of me) I have not had time to put them on my photobucket site yet.  I'll post a link when I get some time.

I know what you mean!  I feel like I've been in a fight and the other guy won!..:)  But it was great to meet so many that frequent this board and so many others nice folks.  Mike

Nice picks.  How was the corn? It looked kinda green still.  Did it yield well?

I'm still recovering too, but had a great time meeting picker friends from all over the country. In fact I met a nice young couple from New Jersey who farm 5000 acres!!and found out they were just here for the Half Century Show and not sticking around for the Farm Progress Show. It was also great to meet so many corn picker forum friends. I suggested to many new corn picker friends to check us out as they were either looking for information or parts.
Looking forward to next Half Century Show and maybe this time I will talk less and pick some corn!
Take care, CornPickerBob

Thank you atuck and DJ53 for sharing your photos and video! It is great to see all of those tractors, pickers, and wagons in action!!

Wish that I could have made it also but that was the same weekend we had to move my son off to college. Hopefully I can make it to the next one in 2 years!

BTW - what dates are the "corn pickin' days" this fall down in southern Iowa?

As it stands now the Antique Harvest Days near Ottumwa, IA will be held on October 15 and 16.  I'll be posting more information as the date gets closer.  Contact me here if you have any questions.  There will be picking, combining, shelling, and grain handling including the John Deere Inside Cup Elevator on the grounds.  If you have never seen one they are very interesting to watch.  This one is from 1936 and is operated by the original electric motor it came with.  Just a tidbit of information: in 1936 this elevator cost more than a new John Deere B tractor did.  Mike
