John Deere Corn Picker?

What models of pickers had right hand cut in the 40s or 50s that would have used this row shield on the tractor? Has anyone ever seen one of these. Yes, it's Deere. I want to use it for our picking day Nov 5, not because I need to, just because I've never seen one before or since.

Odds are that was for a forage harvester, not a corn picker.  Mike

OK, that's a thought. Somebody else suggested corn binder.

I've seen versions of that made by Koyker, but never an OEM Deere. I've got a lot of leaning corn because of Hurricane Irene . . . it's got me looking long and hard at the inoperable carcass of a New Idea 311 down back that might donate parts to make one of these.

Nice set up, that's a No 7 picker, right?

Yeah, I think so. I never was too good with fine details. It picks several loads every year.

John Deere also had a newer version that they sold to go on a tractor pulling a 300 Husker. There was both a shield for the rear wheel as well as a separate one for the front wheel when pulling the picker with a wide-front tractor. I attached a picture out of the brochure for these pickers. BTW I also have one of those Koyker shields that someone else mentioned - it's for sale if someone is interested!

Cool. I found the page I posted in a #18 picker book. I found a similar shield in the #10 book for the A & G tractors (lots of numbers match). But surely there were models between the 10 & 18?
