It was in good shape when we found it, in a farmers back field. Had to replace one bearing. Belts were all good and all chains were there. Just adjusted them. Secondary beater was rusted and did not put back on.
Great pictures, is the MF 175 tractor a gas or diesel ? Great to see a Ferguson tractor pulling a New Ideal corn picker. I pull my New Ideal 309 one row with the newer version of that tractor,a MF 275. Both good tractors in my opinion. Wish I had a 2 row picker. I believe I rather have that picker sheller than a smaller 2 row combine to keep up.
We had 10 acres this year. will have more next year. This the first sheller we used. There are not many parts in the sheller unit. Have to believe it should be easy to maintain. Gathering unit is the normal picker. Hardest part is to get the wagon auger off to store the machine. Ran 40,000 pounds of shelled corn through it this year.
Your cornpicker looks great. I have a New Idea Supersheller also. Bought it about 10 years ago from a farmer who was going to scrap it because it was wide row. Got it for $200. It has worked like a charm every year. This year I harvested almost 3000 bushels of shelled corn with it. I will probably have to replace a gathering chain or two for next year. Just love the machine. Still in original conditioin. I pull it with an Oliver 1650.
Thank you Oliver #4. I had that 1650 torn apart from top to bottom in 2000 and completely redone like a new tractor. I have a friend who is a top notch Oliver mechanic and fellow Oliver enthusiast. He really loves them and keeps my "fleet" of Olivers in top shape. Also have a 77 and 1550.
In terms of harvesting equipment, I also have a New Idea 2-row picker for ear corn, a Massey Ferguson 124 baler, and an Allis Chalmers 66 Allcrop harvester, all in excellent working condition. Other farmers in the area tease me about the age of my equipment - they say that when I'm done with equipment, either the Amish or the Smithsonian want will take it. I reply that there is a difference between my equipment and their shiney new stuff - mine is old, but is all paid for. That usually shuts them up, LOL.
