i got four 1500 bushel round cribs, we are switching to making earlage for the dairy cows instead of grinding it dry annnyywaayy got several neighbors that buy ear corn off of us so im going to continue using them but maybe im just a young lazy punk now days but im fortunate enough to have tunnels with a little giant drag for grinding but i got an old silo unloader auger with teeth on the flighting and im thinking i can sumhow mount it on some sort of bracket to set on the edge of the tunnel sides before i decide to start the project.. does anybody know if theres a company out there that makes anything like that at all? dad claims when they would shell popcorn out of several 25,000 bushel bins they had one so they wouldnt have to shovel it as many times lol but i didnt know if this was a homemade job or something factory?
i know the idea i got in mind wont run itself and do everything like a shelled corn sweep but im thinking its a heck of alot better to pick it down to the auger and shovel a little then to shovel and pick it all
A custom mobile feed grinder that used to come here when I was little had an auger contraption that (I assume) was driven hydraulically off the truck. It had wooden handles on it and he'd jab it into the corn and it would slowly drag it out the door into the grinder intake. Not sure if it was bought or built. He's been gone 18 years, so can't ask him.
