8N Ford on Model E Minneapolis Moline Corn Sheller

I was wondering if the ear corn was dry enough if an 8N Ford would handle running my model e Minneapolis corn sheller.  The corn is dry, around 13%.

I kinda doubt it. Last time I ran a Model E sheller, I used a DC Case, and it had just enough power when I really loaded the drag full. But my corn wasn't nearly that dry either.  But it can't hurt to try.

Fergie40,

I have a MM D sheller that I use on my Farmall H. I run corn out of the field through the sheller and the H does a good job on the sheller. I would think that if you don't stuff the sheller too full and the corn is at 13%, the 8N would do the job. It will be a good workout for the tractor.  Give it a try and see. Let us know how it went.

It should run it,---just not very good,--but if you have the time and not much to shell, go for it! thanks; Picker Dude
