Shelling to much corn

Hey guys. I have a 309 ni snapper,It is shelling way to much corn. I have changed the withe of the rollers from all the way colsed to all the way open.Is there any other adjustment that would help with this. Should i have gathered at higher moisture it is at 15%. I am new at this so any ideals will be helpful. Thanks James

That's plenty dry for picking, should really be picked at 18% or wetter.

Thanks Hamermill I think the low moisture is my problem because picker seems to be in good shape.

I looked in my manual for you and it gives several suggestions for ' Excessive shelling on Snap Rolls'.  1. Open or close rolls according to conditions, suggest opening rolls for dry or frozen stalks. 2. Gathering chains to tight, loosen chains. they recommend running chains on the slack side.  I hope this helps you out. I usually have shelling problems also, it seems to get worse as the corn dries more.

Thanks Lacornman. I will ckeck the gathing chain, but i think they are on the loose side. I thing just let corn get to dry. Thanks again.
