Brutal wind

Sometimes the weather is just very unpredictable. Last Sunday night we had some tough straight line winds here in east central IN. During this wind and rain storm (didn't seem that bad) I was out in the garage working on a project. A friend nearby lost his 50x90 Cleary pole barn that was ripped down by the wind. Some tornadoes were sited.

A barn 2 miles west of where I live that I rent where I kept equipment was like a parachute and the wind came through from the southwest and the wind lifted it up, broke the posts off and took it down, in the process dumping beams and debris over equipment I had stored in there. I could not believe it, I drove by the barn last Sunday night and it was completely gone!

I spent this afternoon cleaning debris so to get a loader in to lift beams off hopefully this week. Wow, not what I had in mind for November fun.

A John Deere steel wheel rake that I had on a planter trailer took a beating and looks to have a bent frame. My early (1965) 701 Uni-picker has a elevator bent over like a banana, a beam on it with the husking bed sprung toward the right and something fell on the corn head. Something cracked the glass on the operator door. The 325 NI picker in there has a beam on it and busted the support on the elevator. The elevator is bent also. The New Idea 402 hayrake that our FFA repainted and rebuilt in the school ag shop this past year has beams laying all over it. Hadn't even raked any hay with it yet since rebuild.

It could have been worse, could have been a fire. Going to try to fix and keep on going.
The Uni I had only had a couple years, it didn't have a dent on it...The 2 row picker I bought off a neighbor, it was nice and straight, neighbor owned it 37 years... Sometimes you never know.

If anyone has a good elevator and sheet metal for a 727 husking bed near Indiana, I may need to talk to you...

Sorry to hear of your damage. I have a friend in Wisconsin that might have any UNI parts you might need.
