Finally got off my butt and went to pickup the corn picker I got for $150. Toughest thing I have loaded on my truck to date. Took every bit of my 12 foot bed and was at 13'6" tall on the elevator. I love the looks I get from the can't do people and nay sayer people. Didn't get as many looks as the tractor tires on the roof of my Ford Focus....lol. Thought someone might be interested or be thinking what might fit on their flatbed. Happy Holidays!
I see they improved the drive line. Mine has the old style drive line on it. I wish i had a heavier truck running that is. lol How many miles did you have to haul it? Mines been pulled behind a full size pick up 40 miles once, then 60 miles then another 20 to my present farm. I can just imagine the look on a DOT cops face if he had saw that. lolJust tell them your bring it home for a yard ornament.! lolNice looking old picker. I bought mine because that is what my grandfather had used.Pretty rugged reliable picker. They all have their pluses and minuses. Be safe and Merry Christmas.
Hauled it 90 miles to my farm. It was after work on Saturday and the scales were closed and all Michigan DOT were snuggled up warm in their homes. Didn't even see a county mounty. The picker has some rust holes but most everything is there. Needs one chain the seller told me. I can get that at Tractor Supply. I have this pull behind and a mounted 2 row picker. Picking up a corn binder next week.

You're going to be set to go. Nice truck and buildings too! I got a ford dearborn 2 row mounted picker on a wd45 allis that needs major work done to the tractor and anew picker belt drive pulley on it.With that binder you should be set to go. Wishing i had kep a 2 row mounted i had to get rid of years ago and kept the sheller. I would have been setting pretty now. lol What kind of 2 row mounted picker do you have and use it on.? There is only two things i would change on my #7 ni picker and that is the angle of the snapping rolls so it didnt break so many stalks and shell so much in the snapping rolls and 2. A fan that would blow a stronger blast of air to help in the husking.
I believe that is a #10 picker. There should be a model number plate somewhere in the vicinity of the left wheel riveted on the frame near the pto area. Sometimes they fall off.
THat's what i thought when I saw it, but the last time i commented on adifference like that got my head bit off by the surly poster so i dont say much about that stuff now. Some guys have done little things like that to improve their pickers or swapped parts to repair. I paid $250.oo for my picker a few decades back . i had a great dealer too. Too bad he past away.
Beautiful today. Unloaded my New Idea corn picker off the truck onto my flatbed, then onto the ground. Can't wait until my winch arrives....lol. No more come-a-longing then.
I stand corrected. The seller said #7 but you guys were right. Found the data plate and it said #10.
Cool ! Glad you got it off safely. If i had had a trailor I'd have a 33 ac mounted picker too but guy decided after it sat there for decades he must have needed it out while we were in the field.Like the roto balers i used to see the pickers go for $2.oo at a sale, now people want hundreds. lol Need to buy myself a good winch when $$$$ becomes available. Bought one but it was cheaply made. One of those chinese ones that couldnt pull your cap off your head. From what i learned when i first got into tractors, the farmer i was working for had a home made trailor a farmer /trucker friend of his made. We winched 2 olld massey harris challengers onto. They haddent run in decades and looked it. Got to have a good trailor and winch!!Good luck and be safe!
Weather too bad to bring her home. She is a 1953 WD with a #33 corn picker. Snout is off for transport. Also has the side panels. Still need to get the husk blower fans, as these were removed along time ago. Hope you enjoy the pics.
Great pics but what is with that white stuff every where? lol Looked outside after opening the pics and some of it must have run off the pics cause no3w we got it everywhere. Dang stuff is worse than packing peanuts!! roflmao. Wonder if you can make sharp turns with that pick on there , or do the tires hit the picker?I would rig something up on the fans. Especially if you could find some small furnace type fans on some tool supply website? I strongly believe a better fan blowing the trash out and the husks loose would help any pickers husking corn.I ran my NI 3325 without one for a while and it made enough of a difference that i drove probably 40 miles to get a used one off of a picker an amish friend had scrapped. Love the picker picks, pickers, corn cribs and old small farm machinery could stare at them all day long. And love the stories too.Like a friend told me i should have been born 10-20 years before i was!! lol
