Our group has a New Idea model 300 2 row picker. I plan to bring it home in the next few days and begin pulling out the husking rolls so we can take them to the gentleman in Iowa for rebuilding. Just wondering if anyone has ever done this, and how difficult a job it might be. I've never had one of these apart before. Any tips, pointers or shortcuts would be appreciated. Thanks in advance!
Update: Turns out the owner's manual has complete instructions on how to remove the rolls. It wasn't as bad as I was anticipating.
A friend and I took them down to Mr. Taylor's on Wednesday. He had them done in about 2 1/2 hours. They look GREAT! We reinstalled them on Friday and she's about ready to pick corn.
