Around here they are up to about $500 already disassembled. They are now hard to find locally. Many of the cribs that hadn't yet been scrapped were wrecked by the winds from Hurricane Sandy.
Just saw a pretty nice Behlen wire crib(we called them "bear cages" back in the day) not very far from here, trying to figure out how to get it home. I even have a pad to put it on now that the bin is gone...
Shouldn't be a big problem to find somebody that wants to get rid of one for pretty cheap, good luck!
From what i 've seen in pics guys put 2x4s on edge to stand on and take the roof off piece by piece.THen tie to a rope and hand down to the ground and a helper.
