Allis Chalmers 33

I currently pick 6 to 7 acres of ear corn a year to grind and feed calves. I'm using a CASE model P and I'm looking to upgrade a lil. My neighbor has a good Allis Chalmers model 33 mounted picker With WD brackets and I happen to have a WD that doesn't have much to do..... So what is the value of this picker? Pros cons

I've had guys that used them tell me they werent very good with green stalks. But they didnt shell much as the snapping rolls since they have theplates like on a combine.Where as my old #7 new idea would shell 14 BPA reguardlless of conditions. There are guys on here that use them and seem to like them a lot.I know i regret buying a couple that sold for two dollars at sales and didnt have the trailor to get a free one.I know they dont husk the corn very well . But other than that and turn it off to unclog it (neighbor lost both arms in one), It sits low to the ground so down there in the hils and hollers of ky i will be safer. Just get a manual and lube and keep it adjusted. One guy who has passed told me he had to constantly "feather' the hand clutch to slow it down. One fella on here said they used to use road grader tire and wheels which were smaller to slow it down.

Ok sounds good and thanks for the reply. I'm used to old equipment and feathering a lot of things lol. We still thrash clover seed with a 60 all crop ! So value? What's it worth ? I know this is loaded question

Because i didnt have a trailor at the time i lost one from original owner for free. I've seen other at sales go for $2.ooI imagine now most would want at least scrap price. When i finally am ready to get one I'm sure it will be waaay over a grand then lol. Get him to make an offer first if you can.Remember mounted pickers are a pain to get hauled . But that one shouldnt be too bad.

Well I  got the picker bought for a very reasonable price. It's not got much wear at all just gonna take lots of grease and tlc. Bought it from the original owner. Deal is when I get it going he gets to run it a couple rounds !

Nice. I'm glad you were able to get it and move it quickley. Hauling one was my big prob.

They are easy pickers to move. The center unit can be picked up by hooking on a chain to the central cross beam. All the other pieces are best moved by hand.
