Rubber snapping rolls for Ford picker

Wondering if anyone had a pair of rubber snapping rolls for a Ford picker. Putting one together for a friend and the quartz rolls on it have all the quartz falling off. He said he would prefer rubber ones but would probably take whatever he can get. Thanks

According to the parts lookup for a Ford 601 picker at messicks.com, both are still available from New Holland new! Not cheap though.

Hadn't even thought to look at New Holland most of the prices on this old stuff from them are just laughable anymore. Thanks for the heads up though

If I read it correctly, the rubber roller is $103 and some cents.  The quartz roller is over $400.

Snapper rollers are also available.  $179.05 and $159.95  each which I don't think is too awful bad.

Lot of work to find out, but I wonder if you would coat them with Line-X and sprinkle that with quartz granuals before it dried.

It might.  I once bird-poop welded on one that the quartz had worn off.  It got the season finished but didn't work as well as the quartz.

I had the same thoughts on some bed liner material. I also have thought about some 2 part epoxy and mixing in some granite grit material we get for our turkeys. I just can't decide on a good epoxy to start with. I have also thought about some spot welds on the steel thats left. Might shell a little more but this guy is just going to play with it anyway.

Whatever is shelled with the husking rolls should be saved.

That was my thinking too. The picker on our 6000 has quartz in it and shelled some last year but it mostly all ended up in the wagon. Hardly any on the ground. Thinking that welding spots on them will be the first thing I try
