Has anyone sped up the elevator on their New Idea pickers? I have a 324 with the 327 husking bed and were wanting to throw the ears a bit farther. The parts book doesn't show anything.
I would try upping the speed by ten percent and see how it goes. If it starts clanking and rattling too hard you can always change it back. I honestly cannot see the harm in upping the speed.
Back when our neighbors had dairy cows, they used to pick into Badger silage boxes with a 324. They sped the elevator up to fill the back of the wagon. They used one of those weld-a-sprocket assemblies on the elevator shaft to do it. I don't know how much smaller they went with the sprocket, though.
