Here are some pics from this fall. The first five are of me playing with the "red" pickers. The next three are of my son doing some serious work with the John Deere. This year we picked a little over ten thousand bushels of ear corn. We harvested the majority of the corn with the combine.
Very neat. I was at RPRU this past summer and they had a set of 706 mounts, with side screens, but I was too late, he already had them sold. Ah well. I need the tractor first
Hey, switching pickers mid-season!!! I love it. So, I have to ask, which picker did you like to run better, the 2-MH or the 234? Which performed better, used less horsepower, etc? Thanks for the pics!!!
The 234 is the one that I prefer to use. It has much more capacity resulting in higher operating speed. The 706 is also a nicer tractor to drive than the 560. Although the 2MH will do a better job of husking in dry conditions (snapping rolls vs. stripper plates) but will have higher field loss. They both require basically the same power to run.
