I am fairly new to the Chicken world, especially the type used for food. I saw an object on the net that was called a " Killing cone " Can someone tell me how this gaget works.
Also a scalding machine. then there was the chicken picker.

its quite easy....stick the bird in, head first, pull its head out thru the bottom of the cone and slit its throat. once it bleeds out and passes from this world into wherever chicken souls go, you scald it in water roughly 150F, and then pluck with the plucker. if you over scald or your water is too hot you'll damage the carcass. a lot of the hatchery web sites have links that will show you how, or go to attra.org. your local extension office should be able to help as well. hope this helps
I've never used a cone, but have seen others that use them. I just use the old fashioned "stump" and hatchet method. I also skin mine instead of messing with feathers.
