Picker Show Corn is Planted

Hello every one! I planted the corn that will be used for the picker play day Monday May 4, about 80 acres ! when I was planting it it sure does seem like alot of cares to put to just a hobby for fun, but I sure hope every one can come and be apart of it ! I planted in 38 in rows at a population of 25000 ,so maybe alittle thick for some of the old pickers but we may just have to pick slower!   Have a Great Planting season everyone!!!!

Kevin

Kevin, I know your going through a lot of work for this event and I know I will appreciate it when I get there to help with the picking.  I can't wait to see all the different picker you have and everyone else will bring to THE CORN PICKER DAY.

I bought four row 38 inch JD 7000 planter so I can pick a little corn for the cows.  What did you use to plant the 80?

I still don't have all my corn planted only about 1/3 planted.

Hi Ron I planted it with a JD 7000 8 row 38 in with a little 5300 tractor with no cab. A friend and I bought it together and so we can do it again next year ! So we are hoping for success of the show so we can do it again! It was taking me back a little since I am used to planting all the other corn with a JD 8300 and a 1770 16 row 30 in. But it was fun just because ! Hope everyone planting is going well!!!!

Hey Kevin, I just planted 12 acres with my JD 7000 and it worked good, but I had a hard time driven that close to the other row and I just run 7400 with a 8 row Kinze,  I don't see how you did it where your used to running a 16 row.  I couldn't believe how long it took me to plant just 12 acres, it's like you said, it take you back a little.  I started out with a 4 row 1240 and thought I got a long good with it back then.

How the corn coming a long I bet it's close to knee high by now?

Yes the corn is coming along very well , it is about 18 in. high ! I took stand counts two weeks ago 26500 to 27000 and it is maybe a little thick for some of the old pickers but we`ll just find a lower gear! So things for the show are coming along slowly but we`ll get there! So I need to come down your way soon so where is it that you live and I may just stop by to see whats in your shed! LOL Hope all it good with everyone!

That's close enough for me! I don't think I'll be able to make both days, but I'll be there. Unfortunately, I won't be able to bring my picker along this year, but it'll be fun to watch what's out there.
