Howdy, I helped our local tractor club put up some ear corn for shelling at next summers show. They our storing it in a round wire crib at our fairgrounds. We only had enough corn to fill approximately 6 foot high of the 16 foot crib. Do you guys think that is enough corn to get it to keep for 9 months? It is a 12 foot diameter crib.

I would highly recommend you go buy a tarp and tie it to the outside wires. There will be too much rain (maybe snow?) trickling through otherwise. Then it will stay at least good enough. I've had poor luck even filling a crib 2/3 full. The partially full cribs are always the ones that get used/emptied first. LOL
I agree with Tim-when I used to help my uncle out on his farm (early/mid-1980's) if he had a crib that wasn't full to the peak, he would buy corn from a neighbor to top it off. He was also very particular about making sure the cap was on the fill hole-I should know, I was the guy (I was a teenager at the time) that had to crawl up there to replace them if they blew off. He used the round wire "Behlen" type corncribs.
