I'm an Allis man, but I do love to hear a MM work. I owned this rig at one time, but Dad needed it worse than I did. Nice old stock U, its tougher than the mill.
Thats a great old horse! I grew up next to a MM collection, thats one of my influences to collect stuff!

I cannot swap Dad back out of that U (I've tried!). Its been in the family since '87, sold it to him in '02. Dad does nothing but grind feed with that tractor, but it does the job better than any tractor he has.
Just as my video was ending they crowed the ol' horse and smoked the mill belt - I sure wish I had that on the clip!
I like Allis best, but MM's are a close second!
To post a clip directly, notice when you reply all the thingies at the top of the post. Kinda like a toolbar. Next to the last icon to the right is a green icon that looks like a film strip. Click on it and and a pop-up box will open. Paste the address of the movie clip you want to attach inside the box. It operates just like posing a picture, but you need the web address of the video clip. Hope that helps.
One of my child hood heroes and idols picked his corn with a MM ZB with a mounted new idea with the trailing husking bed.I only seen 3 of those old pickers and under duress cut mine up when we were forced to move from the home farm. That was the last one ive ever seen. but seeing that old ZB and also his 50 hp massey tractor he had coming down the road always made my day.His 160 acre farm was one of the last i seen of americas golden age of farming.
I became acquainted with a man while in college, who influenced me in the direction of the Molines. Not only Molines, but Hudson/Terraplane automobiles. He was a golden age farmer who lived and farmed in the river bottoms around Celina TN. His two tractors were a ZA and U. The tractor in the video was bought from a Farm Bureau advertisement he had clipped and sent to me via his son, my friend. In March of '87, my orange blood became a shade lighter.
Mr Smith was one of my heroes.
I've seen one of those NI pickers with the dolly-wheeled husking bed. There is a family that still farms just across the Ky line from me that have one with mounts to a M Farmall. They still use it. In the early 90's, they were custom picking corn around Gamaliel Ky doing several acres a year with that picker. At the time I was farming full-time and doing on-site mechanic work on the side, which included their M's. That picker did a good job and didn't put too much weight on the rear axle of the older tractors. Funky looking, but a functional design.
You'll have to be satisfied with the still pictures for awhile - I didn't get any ear corn picked this year so the earliest I could film the #43 in action would be in the late fall of 2010.
