There were some narrow row pull type corn pickers. On the New Idea the wide row could go from 36 to 44 in. spacing. The narrow row could go from 28 to 36 in. spacing. I think it was probably the same with all brands of pickers but I'm not 100% sure. How much do you plan on picking with a corn picker? Are you on wide or narrow rows?
I plant 36 inch rows. I dont plan on picking much of my own, just go to corn picking get togethers and hang out with some old timers. I suppose if a two row was set on 40 it would only push the rows out two inches each.
A wide row picker would work good for what you need it for. On the New Ideas you can adjust the snapping rolls for the different row widths. In most cases you can buy a wide row picker fairly cheap also. Most people want the narrow row pickers now with most people on narrow rows. You can buy pickers with different capacities also. New Idea has two different types of husking beds. An eight roll and a twelve roll. If you aren't worried about going slower, an eight roll husking bed would work alright but a twelve roll husking bed has more capacity so you can travel faster. Also welcome to the forum. Sorry I'm rambling on about New Idea. I know the most about those. I hope I'm helping a little.
