How Do You Move This

I talked to the owner of this corn crib and he said I could have it.  Now I need to figure out how to move it the five miles to my grandparents place.  It is about 54 feet long and 12 feet high.  A 3,000 bushel corn crib.  Any ideas would be appreciated.

I don't know how you would move it but move it you must. That thing is AWESOME. I have never seen one like that before. Not that you want to hear it but you might be better off taking it apart. You may be able to rig some trailer axles under it somehow.

I think if you could find an old Donohue planter trailer or mobile home frame, you could move it in two sections.  That's a nice crib setup, never seen one like it, either.

Nice crib! Does that elevator underneath still work? I think that the idea of splitting it in two and using a Donahue trailer to haul it sounds like a winner

Nice!
I would look for some square tubing 54 ft. long and weld some wheels to the tubing.  Then make a hitch on one end hook it to the tractor and down the road.

What is the name of the company that made it? and can you find me one? I would come and move your's if you find me on for the same price.

jdtom, don't you have a brochure on this crib?

It's a Cornsaver corn crib. It says it is manufactured by Cowixs Co. Inc. Minneapolis Minnesota. I don't know where I would find a donahue trailer. There don't seem to be many around here. Thanks for the replies. I hope I'm not trying to do the impossible with moving this.

RFP - I don't have a brochure for this crib but I have seen similar cribs in my area - just not this big.

Fergie40 - Mark Jacobson in Luverne used to have a Donahue trailer they rented out - not sure if they still have it. Also check with Rock County Implement in Luverne - they might have one to rent out.

Kody, have you got the crib moved yet? and if so how did you move it?   I've been hoping you would just call me to come and get it.

Don't forget to take pictures for us.
