Looking for a new idea uni-system. Live in Alabama not many around here but 1 that i know of, seen it work, i liked it. Have a 1 row new idea snapper now just to slow. Hoping you guys could help me locate 1 with a 4 row narrow head. Thanks for the help. 256-507-0042
Hillbilly, if that Uni is in decent shape, I would worry about the head later. A neighbor of ours modified an old narrow row 4-row combine corn head to fit his Uni, and it works well with the machine. I don't know all the details on his machining, but any decent welder can probably work out the head.
Some of the New Idea feederhouses can be modified to use JD quik-tach combine heads. This looks like it might be one of them. Throw a 443 on there and you'll have a machine!
Yes i seen that one in Kentucky with a wide head. Found a nother in kentucky for $3500. with a diesel, but its got a 4 row wide with it also, but it looks clean.
I think jdtom posted a pretty inclusive list of attachments made for the Uni a while ago. There were a lot of them, including some i had never heard of and a couple I would never had guessed. I know that the Uni's around my part of the country were well-used, which indicates to me that they worked well. I think it would be cool to have all the attachments if I had a Uni. Depends on how far you want to get into it.
Many of the 710 and 717 combines are well worn by now, you would want to find one with pretty low acres on it. At least the ones around here are worn. I ran across a 704 mule last year that had 800 hours on it with a 710 combine and 13' table that was extremely well-kept, but seller and I could not get together on price. There are parts in the salvage yards, but getting hard to come across. Bryant, IN has a few, but when scrap steel went up, some of the older less used combines hit the torch.
HI there, I have a Self Propelled, 4 Row, New Idea Uni System that I am willing to sell. It has a V-6 Gas engine that ran the last time we used it, which was 4 years ago, so it may need a tune up. My father passed away in January 2011, he enjoyed his hobby farm here in Wisconsin but now that he's gone I just don't have the money to continue keeping up his farm and 3 other businesses that he owned. Like everyone in today's economy, we have fell on pretty hard times, especially since his passing, and need to make some money. Hopefully I can help a few folks out with equipment they are looking for and make some money to keep the farm alive. I've listed some of the things in the "Bio" Part during the registration process here on this forum. Let me know if anyone is interested. One thing I forgot to put on the bio is a VERY nice John Deere 7000, 4 Row Corn Planter. 99% of all our equipment has ALWAYS been kept inside and is VERY VERY clean. As a matter of fact, any maintenance of any kind was always kept on record and I would be able to provide those records if needed. He was VERY maticulate about everything he owned and took very good care of it.
