Well Kevin (Oliver#4) and I have done it again, another road trip. This time it was off to southern Iowa to pick up a Massey Ferguson #62 two row mounted corn picker. The picker was previously monted on a IH 460. Kevin plans to mount it on a Massey Ferguson tractor. The Picker seems to be in pretty decent shape, and I must say it is the first one that I have seen of this model Massey. We got it loaded without any problems or incidents. Below are a couple of pictures.
I've only ever seen one, on an MF65 narrow front. Local (long gone) MF dealer sold it new, might have been the only one. I think it was made by M-M for MF.
Looks like another good picker! Here in SE Minnesota, I don't recall ever seeing or hearing about a MF mounted picker. Where do you come up with these little gems? I am curious how you lifted the gathering unit with a loader and pallet forks? I would think the unit would be too unstable to lift up like that. Does that work with other units...like IH?
So glad someone can rescue these old girls. I saw one in real life years ago sitting outside rusting down into the ground. That was in the days before having a trailor became commonplace.
Well it was a good find yes but I have to give Joe Hoover the credit there and I will just keep it till I can find a Massey 65-85 to put under it !! Thank you Joe !
