Has anyone had or ever seen a mounted picker on an IH Hydro? Something like a 656/666/Hydro 70/Hydro 86. Or maybe a 826/1026 or Hydro 100/Hydro 966/1066? Was just thinking that it would be ideal thing because of infinitely variable speeds. Any thoughts/experiences/ideas? Should work really well for a pull type too.
Oh yes there was a 966 hydro . . . neighbor had one he pulled discbine with. It was a fuel pig compared to anything the same size gear drive. When diesel prices went up, it left and was replaced with an A-C 185.
Yep, the early 666, 966, and 1066 were all available with a hydro transmission. In later years there were only two row-crop models, the Hydro 70 and Hydro 100. They were replaced by the 86 and 186. There was a Hydro 84 utility as well. The last of the IH Hydro's was the 3488. I had several friends with Hydro 100's and Hydro 1066's. I also have an Ertl 1/16 966 Hydro, and have seen the IH brochures for them, as well. I think they were only made for a year or so before the model number were changed to the Hydro series, to avoid confusion.
