NI 323 fair price?

Looking for a picker to harvest a few acres of corn. Talked to a few local guys that sell cob corn to deer hunters and they recommended the NI 323 for what im doing. Ive seen huge price differences from $500. to $3500. What is a fair price for one in good condition? What areas of the machine do i need to look at hard before i purchase one?Sorry for all the questions I'm just very new to this and don't want to bring home an overpriced piece of scrap metal that won't work. Thanks.

In and near eastern PA, a very nice one is worth $2500 because the Amish are always on the lookout for them. Working, but ugly, are usually around $1000. Parts or repair, $500 down to scrap value. The highest I saw a 323 ever go was one that was bought brand new in the last year of production, picked 20 acres a year for 4 years, and then was cleaned, oiled, and parked in a closed pole barn for 20 years. $4000 took that one home.

Thanks for the information.  I think the prices in my area are a little inflated this year because Georgia legalized baiting deer. I was told even with the new intrest in pickers in my area that i should still be able to purchase one in good shape around $1500. I only have two acres planted this year but im thinking about planting up to ten acres next year so i can bag and sell a little. Thanks again
