what to pay for a 325

hi new to the site, in fact I found it looking for picker parts.  heres the deal I got a 324 that we cut down to 30'' rows. and was talking to a friend last nite about parts, he said he had a 325 2 row narrow he'll sell me, well I went to look at it this morn and it is in better shape then mine, so I want to buy it and offer him a fair price,  we both know that tractor house prices are kinda high.  his picker has been outside forever (still looks good) and he last  used it 2 yrs ago, he said ran fine needs nothing, what is a fair price?  I only pick 2500bu/yr

It looks like you live just north of us, so our prices are probably pretty close to your range. I paid less than $2K for four (4) working 324s a couple of years ago, but I know a working 325 sold for $3,500 at a consignment sale on the southern Iowa border around the same time. The fair price is probably somewhere in between. JDTom is closer to you, and can probably give you a better idea for prices closer to home.

Just bought a 325 with supersheller. It works great. Bought it in northern Wisconsin for $1200. Most 324 and 325's go for under $2000 here. Most have huskers units. Even seen a 1 row for $1000. If you need parts go to Ralph Klatts ebay store. He is in Shawano Wisconsin. He has many NI parts.

The 325's are going to bring quite a bit more just because they can be used on narrow rows. I have not seen any advertised or sold around here for awhile. I would venture a guess that a decent one around here would bring $1500 - $2000, maybe less if you are lucky, whereas a 324 could probably be had for half of that or less.

BTW, how did you narrow up a 324 for 30" rows? Someone was asking about that on this forum earlier this year and the consenus was that it it could be done but would take a lot of time and fabricating. Post some pictures on here of what you did if you have a chance!

I'll try to answer the best I can, I'm on the rd now and will not be home till mid nt wk, but if I remember right my dad did it by cutting some welds the pulling it together at the bottom of the head, then reweld, truth be told it works great, and is not on a true 30'' more like 33'' to 34'' spaceing, cause we (my dad) has always done custom work so he made it to work on wide and narrow, after looking at the one I want to buy I've noticed that the incline chain on the narrow row(325) is alot narrower then the wide row picker (324) does or will it handle corn like the 324 will, or is a true 325 a slow picker?  as I said on first post I'm new here, so beware my spelling sucks, but hope to use this site alot.  thanks for having me.
