Today: Partly sunny, with a high near 62. Windy, with a south wind 16 to 19 mph increasing to between 31 and 34 mph. Winds could gust as high as 45 mph.
Looks like you guys had a good time today and the ears did stay in the wagon!! Thank you for posting your pictures of your picking day. Not only do I love seeing tractors and pickers but I enjoy seeing all of the different kinds of wagons!! I am a sucker for a good wooden barge box!! I can't buy them all--unless I add onto the machine shed....hmmm....
Does your pickers shell a lot in the row? Mine seem to shell about 14 BPA reguardless of how it was adjusted and how fast i ran and reguardless of the moisture.
the Allis is pulling a Ferguson picker made by Belle City. Yes, the corn was very dry and we had trouble with it shelling off. I put my snapper rolls closer together as somebody suggested but couldn't see as it helped any. And the corn was heavy enough that I had some trouble with the husking bed being overloaded.
That is on my machine and it works excellent. Dad had it on a two row also. I am not sure but I think they are homemade. I can get some close up pictures if interested.
Here are some pictures. I have it in the back of the shop so the pictures are not as clear as I had hoped. It is farmer-built and I am not sure if dad did this or if he bought it that way. The two row we had also had this set-up.
