International Corn Binder

I purchased an International Corn Binder from a guy off Ebay.  Had to travel from Alabama to Michigan to pick it up.  834 miles each way.  Took all of last weekend to retrieve it. Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.

Anyway....  Here are some pictures.  It still has the binder twine laced and has been shedded all it's life.

I've been cutting about 600-700 bundles of corn stalks each year (by hand with a machete) no to sell for fall decorations.  I have one curb market that buys 400-500 at one time.  I hope this will make that process a little quicker wink.

When I got it home I hooked it behind the Farmall 140 and engaged the drive.  It is ground driven.  Everything seemed to work fine.

My question is does anybody know what model # it is by looking at the pictures.  I can't find a tag on it anywhere and I would like to buy a manual for it.  Right now there are two manuals listed on Ebay.  One for a McCormick Corn Binder CB-1 Prior 1950 and one for a IH McCormick Long Vertical Corn Binder.  Is this either of those????

It looks about like one I just sold exept that one had a tongue truck and no bundle carrier.  I don't know what model it is but I will look on the manual tonight and see what it says.  If you need parts I have a few laying around.

Nice find! That's what I like to see - vintage equipment going to a good home, and you actually are able to use it for what it was intended - neat!

It is a vertical binder. I am not aware of them having any model numbers. They made horizontal and vertical binders. Your binder looks like it has zerk fittings so that would make it a later model one. I am not sure when they went from grease cups to zerk fittings. If I had to guess I would say early twenties but that is just a guess on my part. Jesse

Firefighter, I don't want to sell the manual at this time. All it says is vertical corn binder as JBDairy said.

There is a long vertical and short vertical. I can not tell which yours is but I'm thinking long. Here is a picture of a short vertical.

Pitalplace,
I really think your picture is of a regular binder or what you call a long binder. The regular binders had three packing arms verses the short binders that only had two packer arms. I would say that the short ones are probably close to 1 1/2 feet shorter in height then the regular binders. The short ones are pretty rare.   Jesse

I may be learning something here. This is a picture of my machine that my dad had. The manual for it says Short Vertical binder on the front so that is what I thought it was. The pictures even look the same. So how can I tell for sure. Thanks

Here is a picture with the parts labeled. Notice that this picture has 3 packers, an upper, middle and lower. The short binder only has 2 packers.

Sorry I haven't responded.  I've been on vacation in Orlando with the wife and kids since Friday.

Mine has the three packing arms, so I'm going to assume it's a long vertical binder.  Now I just need to find a manual for it.

On a good note about the vacation to Orlando, I just happened to bring back a Jacto Cannon sprayer that I had been looking for  to spray my corn (sweet and edible white) and pumpkins.  My wife told me I got 1 hour at the tractor dealer on our vacation, but I managed to buy the sprayer and get it loaded in less than 30 minutes biggrin.
