Good morning all. long time reader, first time writer. Can't let you guys have all the fun! I been picking corn with a JD A and B since I was 15. grew up, got a city job but never got it out of my system. Hobby farming now and still love pick'en corn. You just got to have done it to know what I'm talking about. Anyway, got some pics of my A with my JD 101. corn picking doesn't come quick enough.

I guess the old saying "You can take the boy out of the country, but you can't take the country out of the boy" must ring true with you, too! I am going to go out and "play" a bit this weekend with my IH 234 picker.

Always wanted a "green" picker growing up but Dad could never afford it. Did most of my picking with a 1 row Woods picker. I don't hear a lot of chatter about these anymore. must be they are all in the scarp yard. although as I remember it was a pretty good picker!
I must say that is a nice looking set up , with it all color coordinated ,lol . The name of the game is to have fun and enjoy this must of us are on here for fun but I know a few are still doing this because they need to or have too .
I know of several woods pickers around here , I ran a friend of mines at a show last weekend it did not have to work to hard thou ,I made two rounds and did not cover the floor of the wagon .
I know of two of them that will be here at Walnut in a month ! Also a pair of jd 101 s
Orange?? There is farm equipment that is orange? Go figure. Kidding, just kidding! I assume we are talking Allis Chalmers? I agree with Oliver#4, it's about the enjoyment of it. You all might want to know that right after I posted this I saw a craigslist add for 2 one row pickers for sale about 5 miles from my house. Stopped there on Saturday and low and behold, one was green and the other one was orange!! Not sure what the orange one was as I didn't spend time looking at that one. It looked pretty tough though as it had been sitting outside. The green one was listed as a 127 but turned out it was a 101 just like what I have! Been sitting under the guys corn crib for 20 years. Other than a lot of surface rust, it was all there including ALL the mounting brackets and manual lifting mecahnism. I felt like I struck gold! The guys was going to scrap it. I bought for 75 bucks! Both he AND I had a good day! My wife on the other hand just shakes her head. She just doesn't get it! Just an FYI. The guy also had 2 A/C pull behind combines and 2 A/C tractors but again, not sure on model numbers. the combines had sold but the tractors he was keeping. Anyway, back to work. I have seen exactly TWO JD 127 pickers, one when I was a kid between Woodbine, Moorehead, and Pisgah, Iowa, and the other at the farm museum at Gering, Nebraska.
