been lookin for a uni and found one about 90 miles from home , its a 708 with a perkins ,737husker,4 row wide head 2500hrs and been shedded. i need a 4 row narrow so if someone needs a 4 wide for parts or to use let me know or it will go to scrap. Its gonna need forwarding fingers and maybe husking rolls rebuilt but the motor runs great, the unit doesnt make any noise, tires are good, and the power shift works well.All that being said i had to give 1800.00 for it i hope i didnt pay too much but oh well its only money and i wanted a uni.
Sounds like a decent price to me. Neighbor has a JD 4-row narrow that he modified to fit on his Uni. You might consider something like that if you cannot find a New Idea head.
Just a thought. You might want to hang on to that wide row head. If you get a New Idea narrow head a lot of the parts are the same. It is nice if your in the middle of picking and something breaks and you can just go to the hedgerow and get the part that you need.
