Half Century of Progress, Rantoul IL information -- IMPORTANT please read

I attended Half Century of Progress meeting last night.  Here is some very important information to read and pass along.

Some notes about the Half Century of Progress Show Aug. 22-25, 2013 at Rantoul, IL

1.       The 5 mile per hour speed limit will be strictly enforced, this includes tractors.  They are expecting a larger crowd than in 2011.

2.       ATV 4 wheelers will be allowed. NO 3 wheelers, bicycles, mo-peds, or motorcycles -- this is the official word from the show organizers.

3.       This is a demonstration show NOT a race.  Don't expect to bring a picker, plow, combine, etc and do 30 acres by yourself.  Keep in mind this is a 4 day show.

The following is some VERY important information that needs to be addressed.

The east-west runway at the airport WILL be operational until the morning of Aug. 22

NO one is to be South of the east-west runway until it is closed (6 am Aug. 22)

The FAA will be monitoring the airport for violations. They basically have the final say as to whether we have a show or not.  If we don't get their blessing then-- no show.  Therefore we NEED to follow their rules.

The runway will be signed and fenced, that's as close as you can get until it is closed.

There will be some tents and equipment set up south of the runway before the Aug 22.  This stuff has special permission to be set up and be there.

For those of you who show up early and have free time. Please refrain from wandering south of the runway.  You can stay north of the runway and in the hanger area.

Please read the scanned document below.

Jim, I talked to Russell Buhr and he said you just have to register your Personal transportation and pay the registration fee. He said they ARE NOT checking proof of insurance and have not in the past. Just FYI.

Prairie Pines Campground has had electric hook up sites sold out before October last year. They normal do dry sites too, they are located on south end of airport. Normally some Dry camping is done on North end of Airport inside the fence ( I think half century runs this camper area).
