corn cribs and silo info.

Ok guys hear is a few things to pick your brain abought. I a wondering if any one has ever used or now any one that has used the big jim center hole ring drive unloaders? If so what can you tell me abought them? Pros cons how whell do they work with corn silage, haylage, amd ground ear corn. Also can they be used in harvestors as a conversion also can they be used in a stave silo. The next question I have is how much ground ear corn would it tack to fill a 20 by 60 silo and what mositur content would the ground ear corn have to be to be stored in the silo. Thank you for your input.

Jason

Don't get too concerned if it takes awhile to get replies to your posts here. Not a whole lot of activity on this forum in the summertime. This is definitely NOT New Ag Talk.........!

i dairy farm and the big jim unloader is a good idea...it keeps everybody wondering how does it work without plugging the hole????? the answer i always get is, "it just does" from what i understand they were designed for the big dairymen that need to move lots of feed at a time but still wanted to use silos instead of bunkers we use hanson top unloaders with our 20x60 poured silo for corn silage and our 18x50 for haylage both ring drive very good machines and about the earlage our 20 x 60 holds about 425 tons of silage BUT it alll depends on the moisture i tried earlage last yr for the first time and we put it in 6 foot by 100 foot bags and it was gettin pretty dry by time we were done but it didnt take many wagon loads at all to fill a bag... i got a guy here now thats replastering our corn silo and he does the harvestore conversions ill ask him what he thinks but again i think it would all depend on moisture
