I recently bought a JD 237 picker. The gentleman I bought it from used to have a 50 sheller for it but scrapped it out years ago. He did still have the sheller mounting bracket and auger that was included in the sale. I haven't been able to find a 50 sheller even advertised for sale so I don't even know what the going prices are. If you know of one for sale or can give me an idea of what I'm going to have to spend I would appreciate it. I live in eastern Iowa between Iowa City and Cedar Rapids. Thanks!
I wish you good luck! I don't think there was an over-abundance of the 50 shellers sold in the first place when they were new, and many of them met the same fate as the one that used to be with your picker. There are a few out there, but you will probably have to pay a premium to get one, and that one may still need a lot of work after you get it. Put some ads out there in various publications in your area (and beyond) as well as Craigslist in your area - you may get lucky and have someone call you with one that has been sitting in the corner of their shed for years!
Wow just a little too late. Oct. 26th there was one that sold in Sherrill Iowa for $75. They also had a #227 mounted on a 620 at the same auction. I will keep my eyes and ears peeled for you.
