With all this news of drowned out crops in parts of Illinois and Indiana (and other places as well) got me to wondering - does anyone know the crop conditions in the Rantoul area where the Half Century of Progress Show is to be held?
I was over there 3 weeks ago and the corn was tasseling. Looked very good. They got it planted early and right around there they have dodged some of the hard rains. Still got plenty of rain, but corn looked good. Beans were small but didn't look bad. They posted a couple pictures on the Half Century facebook page of the corn. The oats and broom corn looked good also. The schedule for the show is also posted on both sites as well.
Thanks for the update - didn't think to look for their Facebook page. Will check that for updates in the future as they don't seem to have this same up-to-date info on their website.
I just didn't want to make plans & reserve hotel rooms and a golf cart if they weren't going to have a crop to harvest.......
