I've been looking at information on pickers. I expect to have to travel to find one and then haul it home. My question is how much trailer do I need to haul one? I have a 2MH manual in my collection, it says a 2MH is 18' long without the elevator. I have an 18' car hauler type trailer that is 16' long with a 2' dovetail so I think I am ok there. Can a picker ride on its storage stands or does the back end need to be cribbed? Anything else special to remember when hauling one?
With all the mounted picker it only takes a couple bolts or pins and the from snout comes off so you can gain about 3-4ft in front. They weigh around 3500-4000 if I remember right. Also I think it would be better if the rear of the picker was lowered down about as far it could on its stands when on the trailer. They are pretty flimsy when up in the air. Bed would be to install all the bracing and lower it to the deck. Elevator coil be laid down in thw center of it I rhink.
THanks, Dan. I may have a line on a 2MH but it's a long way away. I had wondered about removing the front snout. I think that would work out well on my trailer.
If you were to take the center snout off I think if you cut a 2x4 to the right length and put in the front where its pinned on the bottom. It would keep the front from flopping a bit.
If you ever get out my way ill show you the stash. LOL

Sorry guys it's been a busy few weeks.
First, I have found myself a picker! It's a 2MH, been off a Farmall M for about a year. I'm in NC, it's in WI.....what can I say, I love a challenge--so I'm going to the Red Power Roundup and then go get the picker.
Does the front of the stands--the part that holds the picker up when it's off the tractor--help hold the two sides of the picker rigid? Looks like from the owners manual it's one solid assembly.
I'm guessing from the appearance of the picker that the back end of the picker is heavier than the front. Is this correct? Am thinking about how to orient it on the trailer. Even with the front snout removed, I'm not going to have a lot of wiggle room front-to-back to get the picker in the best spot onboard the trailer.
Finally, how long is the wagon loading elevator? as has been mentioned I figure it can ride in between the row units where the tractor would normally sit.
