I found this article about Belle City mfg. I guess they were primarily sold through Ferguson dealers much like Woods Brothers were sold by Ford. Perhaps someone else can shed more light on this and correct me if I'm wrong.
Thanks to all for posting pictures from all of these corn picking events this fall. The variety of pickers (and wagons!) is amazing. And even though many people would have you believe John Deere Co. barge boxes are rare, there sure seems to be more than a few that show up at all of these events!
Yes, Greenswede, Belle City was eventually sold by Harry Ferguson Inc. after the end of the "handshake arrangement" with Ford Motors Company. The Belle City Company was headed by a nephew of Mr. Jerome I. Case, Frank Bull of Racine, who headed many other Racine, Wisconsin, manufacturing concerns. Belle City Co. for many years manufactured smaller threshing machines. The company took over manufacturing its first picker from Continental Cultor of Ohio about 1928. We'll have more details about it in the book.
