Does anybody here know anything about this book? I saw this photo on Facebook, but the link just went to an Allis-Chalmers collectors forum and really didn't have any information about the publisher or how to obtain a copy.
I belong to that New Idea group and we did put together that book on pickers. I have copies to sell and can get more information on that tomorrow along with some pictures. We are currently working on a book on the Uni-System that will be released later on in 2017. Thanks
Does your book have serial and lot number information? We have a no. 300 that we are trying to figure out what year it is.
The book for my no. 7 and no. 6A has a chart which lists the years by serial no. and lot no., but I have not been able to locate such a chart for the 300.
I just put in an order with Joyce at the Mercer County Historical Society. She is a really nice lady, with a lot of information on the New Idea Company. I let her know how to find our forum.
No, we do not have serial or lot number lists in the book. I will do some digging but I was thinking the 300 was built from around 1955 until about 1960 or so.
I like mine too! Even better than expected. I wish I'd have ordered a few more for Christmas gifts, maybe I still will do that before they run out of them....
I just received my copy in the mail. If you are a corn picker person and especially a New Idea corn picker person, you had better a copy. Joyce and her crew did an excellent job in putting this book together. Lots of great information and history. Do we all want more pictures....sure. Thank you for putting the book together!!
Got mine a few weeks ago. Between being a parent to a 3 month old, having a full time job, treating sick cattle and in the middle of lambing 25 ewes I must say I have only had a chance to glance at my book. I really did like what I saw. Hoping to have time soon, maybe in 18-20 years. lol
Glad you fellows like it. It was fun and interesting to put together. If you know of anyone else wanting a copy, I have more to sell. We are working on the Uni-system book now...
