I recently purchased a Heider barge box wagon made of galvanized steel instead of the more common wood. It appears the non-galvanized parts were painted green of some type. I hope to repaint these parts in the future and was wondering what color of green to use. It is on a John Deere running gear and was wondering if JD Green was close or if some other color might have been used. Also, does anyone have a copy of the Heider circle trademark available? I looked online and someone reproduced it but it didn't look like the original, only "close". I would prefer "right". Thanks in advance.
Nothing is stated any further in the Heider brochures I have other than "green enamel". I have looked at them before and sometimes it looks JD green and other times it looks Oliver green. Hopefully there is some one out there that "knows someone who knows someone who worked there in the day" to get the correct color.
Is there any area--underneath perhaps--where there might be some paint that the sun didn't fade? If so, you might be able to get an idea what color you need.
Thanks, Kirk. There is very little green left on this wagon and what is left has been discolored by the rust around it. What little I can see does look somewhat like an Oliver green. At the time I doubt anything was painted John Deere Green other than John Deere equipment. I may get a can of Oliver green and see how it looks. I appreciate your posting the pictures and information.
Or maybe the green equipment enamel at you local hardware store is close. From the picture posted, I'd say that is as close as anything. It wouldn't cost you that much to get a rattle can and see if it matches in an inconspicuous spot.
