Can anyone tell me the weight of a IH 234 picker with husking bed? I am going to be hauling one mounted on a 400 tractor, I'm curious how much weight it will be on my trailer. Thanks
I have transported a couple 234s, husking beds, and sheller. I didn't not use a tractor. I found that the gathering unit is around 1100lbs and each attachment was just shy of 1000lbs. If you are going to haul it on a tractor, make sure you take the elevator off of the husking bed, and the auger off of the sheller.
Can't wait to see what you have, so post some pictures when you are home safe and sound!
Thanks for the info! I will be bringing it home in a couple weeks. The seller already removed the elevator for me. I will post some pics when I get it home!
Finally got it home and worked on it today. What a job to switch from the husker to the sheller! I've seen the videos on YouTube but those are the rockshaft frame. I have the cylinder lift. Does anyone have any closeup pics or video of switching processors? The manual shows stop chains for the rear frame. Mine are missing. Any pics what they should look like? Also having trouble getting the pto to hook back up. The frame end is completly collapsed and I can not get to extend to couple with the pto. I greased it and it was working before? I tried tapping it and prying it but no good. Any ideas? Thanks
Sorry I have not been on here is a bit...fishing trip and then knee surgery. Your picker looks good!!! I have the rock shaft frame so i can't help you with that one. I did put out a facebook message to the IH picker crew to swoop in to hopefully answer your questions. As for the PTO and coupler, mine was a bit out of line, so I had to adjust the coupler-receiver and once it was better in line (as straight out from the tractor PTO and unit as I could get it) I had to fiddle around with the coupler to make sure it was positioned (tilted downward) so the PTO would enter from the bottom and click into place. Admittedly, it took a few times to get it just right and a hammer to tap it to "pop" together. As you lower the subframe the coupler should catch the holder to remain in position so you should not have to monkey around with it the next time you lift up the sub frame. I will try to take some pictures of mine and share them with you. My picker is off of my 706 right now so it is fairly accessible.
Ultimately, changing the husking bed and sheller from a 234 should take minutes. Dan Robinson has a cylinder lift frame (modified rock shaft with cylinders) so I am hoping he is going to be able to help out with your questions.
